His interests outside of health care include soccer, science, spirituality and the perfect cup of coffee. Phillip is a certified Naturopath, Homoeopath and Yoga Teacher and is very experienced in clinical practice. He was trained as a yoga teacher by Janet Catesby, and teaches a form of Hatha Yoga that emphasises body alignment. “Through teaching Yoga I have learned how to observe people much more closely, which has taken my clinical practice as a Naturopath to a much higher level” he adds.
Phillip and his family have recently moved here from Sydney, after what seems to them to be half a lifetime of renting. They have just bought a house in the area, and are looking forward to some peaceful stability in this beautiful part of the world. “We can settle down and work in the one spot now for many years instead of having to move every few years” Phillip stated.
“It did occur to me that to practice Homoeopathy in Bellingen could be seen to be like carrying coals to Newcastle, but I felt it would be a shame not to use my skills and serve the people of Bellingen and surrounding areas as best I can” says the former co-proprietor and Naturopath of Yoga West Natural Therapies Centre, North Parramatta, and long serving Naturopath at Macro Wholefoods Bondi Junction in Sydney's east.
Phillip has always worked in very busy situations, “Over the years I have had to learn to think on my feet. In my early days at Macro I would make ten to fifteen herbal tinctures from short consultations in one afternoon, and in between I would be dispensing acute homoeopathic prescriptions” Phillip recalls. “This is where I honed my clinical skills and learned to think for myself instead of just prescribing from a book. I learned to see what was really presented by the patient quickly and concisely, and from that I could gauge what really worked.”
Phillip is registered as a practitioner with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, and rebates are available from most health funds.
Eva Ritchie is a qualified Herbalist, Aromatherapist, Massage Therapist and Doula and has recently started practicing at Alchemy in Bellingen. Her knowledgeable approach to healing is holistic and caring with long-term benefits. She strives to provide her clients with the most appropriate and tailor made support, so they may experience life to its fullest and reach their highest potential!
Originally from France, Eva came to Australia in 1998 to study Naturopathy and bodywork therapies in Sydney. Soon after starting her course, she realised that Herbal Medicine was to become her main ally and around that time, she also developed a strong interest in women’s health, pregnancy and birth
Having travelled a lot as a child and being curious about other cultures and customs, she went on a round-the-world journey once completing her Diplomas. Whilst being abroad she furthered her understanding of the human body & mind along with learning news ways of keeping them balanced and free of dis-ease. A few of those included massage techniques in Asia, Ayurvedic principles in India, culinary delights in France and dance moves in Africa!
Since returning to Australia in 2005, she has become a mother herself, which has broadened and consolidated her interest in the area surrounding pregnancy and birth. She started working as a Doula and has accompanied many women both in hospital settings and in home births.
She uses herbs, essential oils and massage when supporting a woman in birth and has witnessed time and time again the invaluable help they provide.
Although passionate about birth, Eva also treats a wide range of common conditions including:

Sarah has been a practicing, registered osteopath with a busy practice in Sydney for over 25 years. She is a long-standing member of COCA (Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australasia) and has a degree in osteopathy, as well as diplomas in naturopathy and botanical medicine, from the NSW College of Natural Medicine, Sydney. She also has held a teaching position at Nature Care College, Sydney.
She has a gentle, holistic approach and her treatments incorporate firm deep muscle release, massage and mobilization. Sarah uses spinal manipulation only where necessary and prefers to educate the muscles to regain their correct function to hold bones and joints in their place.
"I like to have a 'conversation' with the body over about 45 minutes, using deep yet gentle muscle release and massage before mobilizing any of the joints. That way, the treatment will last longer and be more effective, reducing the need for repeated follow-up treatments."
Sarah specializes in women's health issues, e.g., fibromyalgia, period-related back pain, menstrual headaches and PMT symptoms, as well as neck, spinal and shoulder issues and old injuries.
She has had many years experience working with stress-related disorders and chronic conditions, where loss of movement, stiffness and pain have become everyday symptoms.
Sarah also incorporates the use of Scenar therapy where indicated.
Neck problems, spine, shoulders, knees, hands and feet are the areas that are covered most frequently in her practice.
Sarah is well-acquainted with other forms of natural therapy and her treatments complement other modalities that the patient may be undergoing, such as acupuncture, physiotherapy, massage, homeopathy and naturopathy.
Rebates are available through all private health funds and HICAPS is available. This therapy also is supported by Medicare's Enhanced Primary Care program.
Privacy and confidentiality are assured for every patient.
